Mama Mia brings that story telling energy along with a lyrical style and metaphors that will make you stop; think; and rewind like “Damn! That’s dope!” You just have to hear it again. Mama Mia’s song “Daddy Say” is a Hip Hop track that tells a story about a young girl who has love for Hip Hop, and her father doesn’t agree with her interest in music. Mama Mia is telling a story about her experience in “Daddy Say,” her love for Hip Hop, naming some of Hip Hop’s legendary artists, and having a black child out of wedlock. The video for “Daddy Say” takes the viewer’s back to when Mama Mia The Boss Chica was a youth, with The Boss Chica popping in to tell the story with a hook “Oh father, please forgive me, I can't help it, but this rap shit is all in me…”. She touches a controversial situation, whereas there will be some people who feels the same way her father does, and others who will agree with her; but it is truth and it works for telling a story in Hip Hop music.
